Jewelry/Valet Box

Red oak valet box, constructed from local rough sawn wood.
The box lid has a "floating" panel top to allow for wood movement.

The wood grain is continuous between the lid and bottom and flows around the box corners,
which are "keyed" for both strength and decoration. The hinges can be seen from the back.

The box opens to reveal a storage compartment within the lid itself.
It is set off by a walnut frame and walnut wrapped finger slot.
The small brass clasp directly under the round finger slot is custom made.
The tray below it has multiple storage compartments. The center of the tray
holds rings and other small jewelry.

The lid compartment opens to reveal watch storage.

The bottom tray lifts out to gain access to additional storage.

All inside compartments are lined with "Pacific Silvercloth" to prevent tarnish.
